I just returned from a weekend writing retreat in Sea Girt, New Jersey where the director of Women Reading Aloud, Julie Maloney, invited me to assist her in offering writing workshops to women. This is the third time that we have collaborated and this year, we fully got our groove on. There is something sacred about being in the presence of writers who are finding their authentic voice and who trust the writing process enough to share brand new work with a group. We stayed at the Beacon House Inn, one block from the ocean. The ocean was rough and we watched surfers gliding over the top of the waves, riding in the curl. We napped on the beach, wrapped in blankets. And we wrote and wrote until we feared that no more words were left in the tank. What a fantastic group of women.
